I am obsessed with the variety of ethnic patterns and designs throughout Latin America! In honor of this native creativity each month the CULMIX logo will be a digital homage to a different Latin American ethnic pattern.
This months Logo comes from the Wayuu people in the La Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia and Venezuela. This ethnic pattern comes from a handmade wayuu mochila (bag) and their colorful hammocks. The Wayuu are goat herders and live in the desert which makes their obsession with color stand out even more. I had the opportunity to visit the wayuu last year at La Guajira Peninsula, and it was their use of color and design which inspired me to develop CULMIX’s first logo (above). Below are some of inspirational pictures from my trip.
