Everyone is familiar with Mexican ponchos, but for many a poncho in the US has become a stereotypical halloween costume accompanied by a cinco de mayo mexican hat. Poncho’s are much more than a cliché, they have many variations and names throughout Latin America. Today we want to focus on the Mexican Sarape. Sarape’s is a type of Mexican poncho from the state of Coahuila in north eastern Mexico and is a typical garment of the city of Satillo. Sarape’s are one of the most representative handcrafts from Mexico. Sarape’s colors and texture lend themselves many unique creative CULMIXing, here are some of our favorite uses:
